Rules in the test

40 MCQ in the Written test
  • At numerous Ministry of Transportation (MTO) locations, you can choose to take the G1 exam on paper or online.
  • The G1 exam is not timed, so you have unlimited time to complete it (until the office closes)
  • At the very least, the Ontario g1 knowledge test is offered in English and French. Depending on the centre you are writing at, you can choose from approximately 17 different languages when taking the G1 test.
  • The G1 written exam consists of 40 MCQs (multiple-choice questions). Twenty questions will focus on the Ontario driver’s manual on road signs, and twenty will focus on the section on traffic regulations.
  • The G1 test is immediately indicated. You must receive 16/20 on each portion of the G1 test to pass. You should spend some time with our Ontario practice G1 knowledge exam tutorials and adequately study the Ontario G1 manual to ensure you don’t get more than four questions wrong per section. These include all of the Ontario g1 questions and solutions.

Vision test

You must also pass a vision test at each place where you take the g1 driving test. Your g1 driver’s license card will indicate whether you require glasses for driving based on the results of this vision test.

Test in a different language

Check with different G1 driving test venues to determine which languages are available, as the G1 written test can be taken in various languages. The Ontario Driver’s Handbook is available in many local organizations’ translations.
